In 1983 our founder, Tom Jordan, created Michael Thomas Furniture. The intent with this first collection was to create custom upholstery that was built on the foundation of impeccable quality and exquisite tailoring. Today the MT Company is still family-owned and operated. Collectively, we have six core collections each created to address a unique customer and their individual style.

Carrying on a proud tradition of excellence, our materials, design and construction techniques combine to create the highest quality, custom built, upholstered furniture in the industry. Based in High Point, NC, each piece is hand-crafted by our skilled artisans.

MT provides 80 hours per year of paid time off (PTO) to regular full-time hourly employees to be used for vacation, illness, medical appointments, personal needs, emergencies, and other circumstances.

In addition, MT offers the following holidays as paid time off:

Description:

The CNC Machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts by loading parts into the machine, cycling machine and detect malfunctions in operation, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.  The position runs production lots, communicates well with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Requirements:

Essential Functions: 

  • Ability to read and interpret production tickets.
  • Set up and operate CNC Router.
  • Run production parts as well as job shop/prototypes.
  • Work without direct supervision.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

Description:

Michael Thomas Furniture, Inc. has a full-time opening for a Finisher/Sprayer. Pay will be based upon experience. The hours are Monday through Friday with the option to choose a flexible schedule.  40 Hours a week and some over time.

The Finisher/Sprayer is responsible for preparing raw wood, accurately mixing and applying water-based stain, basecoat, and sealer to wood frames to achieve correct appearance per color standard. Must maintain a clean and organized work area.

The Frame Builder is responsible for properly assembling frame parts according to production/job ticket.  Must maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.

The Inspector is responsible for ensuring that each piece of furniture meets quality standards and is accurate according to production ticket, and attaches proper documentation to frames.

  • Removes strings, debris, and checks for defects.
  • Ensures that fabric is wrinkle-free and steams if needed.
  • Understands all characteristics of styles and verifies fabric.
  • Verifies proper finish has been achieved.
  • Affixes proper documentation to frames.
  • Makes sure the back and seat cushions fit properly.
  • Matches ticket to law label to ensure accuracy.
  • Reports defects to supervisor.

Job Title: Upholstery Production Supervisor

Description:


The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Expected Hours of Work
